Instructions: This simple project is designed to demonstrate how the major blues scale and its “relative minor” can be effectively used in both keys. The examples used in this project include the Bb major and the G minor blues scales, which you will note contain the exact same notes (reference the “Blues Clock”). Both recordings are a basic two bar repeated pattern performed at a relatively slow tempo. The idea is to listen (as you improvise) to how the same scale pitches inter-react in the two different tonalities, major and minor. Also listen to the effect of the “blues note” when improvising in the two different keys.
