Setting Up a Keyboard Ensemble Suggestions:

Samples of Keyboard Ensemble Set Ups:

The following images are from set up’s, both my music class room at Goodwin Elementary School (in Charleston S.C.) and several different rooms that I used in Charleston County School district’s S.M.A.A.R.T. program.  “SMAART” is just another acronym for a summer “STEP” program that was held for gifted and talented students that were identified in our county.  The program ran five days a week, right after school let out for the four weeks in June.  I taught one “major” program (keyboards with drum set) in the morning, and two minor classes in the afternoon.  The “minor” classes rotated every week, so we did not see any of the students more than one time.  In the minor classes over the years (in addition to drum set and keyboard classes) I also taught guitars, “Bucket” drum ensemble, and “Tech.” ensembles (with i-Pads, Keyboards and guitar).  I saw the same students in my major class all four weeks, with every major class having to perform in our “Showcase / Finale” the last day of “camp”.
