"Pretty Amazin', Amazing Grace"

“Pretty Amazing, Amazing Grace”

This flute ensemble I arranged a while back, and have to admit, I had a lot of fun writing it.  I arranged it for my youngest daughter’s (Kate Moon Orara) senior recital at Clemson University (Go Tigers!).  Along with Kate, it was performed by my wife Joyce, Kate’s twin older sisters (Erin and Ryan), and her flute professor at Clemson (Go Tigers!).  The arrangement definitely rates high on the difficulty scale, but also rates high on the “heck of a lot of fun to play” scale as well.  It is best described as dixieland jazz band chart for flute ensemble, or my own personal version of “Tutti’s Flutes” (a derivation of Tutti Camatara’s Trumpets and Trombones recordings).  If you like jazz and have not heard any of Tutti’s recordings, you have to “check them out” on the internet.  If you have a mature band program, with five “killer” flutes (that do not mind “getting their collective butts kicked”), you might want to look it over.

Have Fun,

Rich Moon
