Assignment # 34 "Comin' Home Baby"

Assignment #34

“Comin’ Home Baby” is a 60’s jazz chart that first hit the “charts” with the singer Mel Torme.  I heard the song first on the Netflix series “The Queen’s Gambit” (a great series by the way with GREAT 60’s music).  It was in the Las Vegas scene (it figures) and I definitely wanted it to improvise with.   I found out that the sound track used by the series was performed by the great Quincy Jones band (that figures too).  It is a fast “rocker” improvised to using the “G” minor blues scale.  It is a straight, basic 12 bar blues format, where you will probably not need a “count offs” track for switching solos, but I put one up anyway.
